As you know, Google announced the May 2026 Core Update on Thursday afternoon, and the SEO community began noticing its impact shortly afterward.
Many website owners started seeing changes in their rankings and traffic over the weekend, particularly from late Friday through Saturday and Sunday. However, the update is still in progress, so its full impact is not yet clear.
Activity may have slowed slightly today, but further changes are expected as the update continues rolling out over the next two weeks.
Google announced the update at around 11:43 a.m. ET on Thursday and stated that the rollout could take up to two weeks to complete.

In the past, if you’re hit by any Google update, there’s a chance you can recover from it. and everyone had faith in google in ‘doing the right thing’ and trusting their algorithm updates.
Since 2022-2023, if you’re hit, you’re practically blacklisted. With each update, it will sink you lower and lower. Sure, there will be times you see your traffic going up by 20-30%, but the next update they will take everything back and make it worse… so you end up -50%. if you look at your traffic graph for the couple of years, it just goes down at an exponential curve….’’

However, many website owners have not noticed significant changes, and several have reported no movement at all. This is normal, as core updates do not affect every website in the same way.
That said, this update appears to be having a noticeable and significant impact, with many describing it as a particularly strong update.
