Google has officially announced the rollout of the May 2026 Core Update. The announcement was made on Thursday at around 11:43 a.m. ET.

Google expects the update to take approximately two weeks to fully roll out. Google said this “is a regular update designed to better surface relevant, satisfying content for searchers from all types of sites.”

Some of you may feel that this update was expected, especially since significant changes in Google Search rankings were already being reported around the morning of Google I/O and continued afterward.

In fact, Ted commented that he believed Google may have already started a new Core Update. However, Google has clarified that the May 2026 Core Update officially began on Thursday.
