Google Search Ranking Volatility Spikes Around June 6, 2026

Earlier this month, the Google May 2026 Core Update was completed on June 2, 2026. However, search rankings have continued to show noticeable fluctuations since the update ended.

Over the weekend, discussions about ranking changes increased within the SEO community, beginning on Friday, June 5, and continuing throughout the weekend. Interestingly, most third-party tools that track Google search activity showed relatively normal levels of movement during this period.

The May 2026 Core Update also appeared to cause more significant ranking changes than the March 2026 Core Update. This could mean that some websites are still experiencing changes after the update, or that Google may have made additional adjustments following the rollout. At this stage, it is difficult to know the exact reason.

As a reminder, the Google May 2026 Core Update was announced on May 21, 2026. Significant changes in search rankings were noticed shortly after the update began, with further fluctuations occurring in the following weeks. Even after Google confirmed that the update had finished rolling out on June 2, ranking changes continued over the weekend.

This suggests that search results may still be settling after the update, although it is too early to confirm whether these fluctuations are directly related to the May 2026 Core Update.
