Google Ads Introduces New Chart Options: Bar, Column, and Time-Series

Google has added several new chart types to the Google Ads dashboard, making it easier for users to understand their campaign data visually. These include stacked bar charts, stacked column charts, combo charts, stacked area charts, and 100% stacked area charts.
Some users, like Thomas Eccel who shared a screenshot on LinkedIn, noticed that a few of these charts are marked as “new” in the interface. However, not everyone sees the “new” label, which could mean the update is still rolling out or being tested with selected accounts.

Thomas Eccel recently shared a simple explanation of the new charts added to Google Ads:

  • 100% Stacked Bar Chart: Lets you compare how different values make up a whole, either across one category with several data points or two categories with one data point.
  • 100% Stacked Column Chart: Works the same way as the stacked bar chart but is displayed vertically.
  • Combo Chart: Combines both bar and line visuals in one chart. You can include up to 5 values shown as bars and 5 as lines, all tracked over time.
  • Stacked Area Chart: Shows changes over time by layering different values. You can either track one category over time or compare multiple values without specific categories.
  • 100% Stacked Area Chart: Similar to the stacked area chart, but it shows what percentage each value contributes to the total over time.

Thomas shared these insights in a LinkedIn discussion where many advertisers are talking about the new features.
