Supporting The Gold Coast Hospital Foundation On Australia's Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Hospital Foundation is an amazing organisation based on Australia’s Gold Coast. While based on the Gold Coast, they raise funds to support families throughout Australia in need of medical support. They provide many everyday services such as providing emergency accommodation for families with loved ones unexpectedly in hospital, transport for cancer patient treatment and therapy for children undergoing surgery. They also raise funds for projects and new equipment needed by our hospitals.

We are proud to support the Foundation raising funds for a new technology helping people with extreme hand tremors (that often arise from conditions such as Parkinsons) get their lives back with a groundbreaking new type of incisionless surgery which eradicates the tremors. Recipients of this treatment go from a state where they cannot drink a glass of water without spilling it, or go to the bathroom without help, to having no tremors after a single treatment. Please watch the video where our CEO Damian Papworth talks to the Foundation’s CEO Ben Cox about this treatment and the impact it is having for people.

SUNDAS FOUNDATION - PAKISTAN

The Sundas Foundation is doing remarkable work providing safe blood transfusion procedures to the communities of Pakistan. The blood transfusion centre focuses on strengthening awareness among the public and facilitating screening and prevention programs to control and manage thalassemia, an inherited blood disorder caused by the body not producing enough hemoglobin.

Established in 2000, the centre recognised a need to deliver safe and reliable blood banks to the community; many people had started ill-equipped and unauthorised blood banks on a commercial basis.

These unauthorised institutions provided unscreened and contaminated blood unfit for transfusion. The Sundas Foundation and their dedication to delivering screened and uncontaminated blood banks eradicated these unfit establishments, having since supplied more than 500,000 units of healthy blood to patients needing a safe transfusion.

We are exceptionally proud to support them on their mission to provide this critical service to their community, making it a safer and healthier environment for all. Continuous financial assistance is needed to manage and effectively run operations and provide services to thalassemic and hemophilic patients, which they offer at no cost. Please take the time to watch the video where CEO Damian Papworth discusses the institution and its goals with Dr Mubashar Razzak Khan in Faisalabad, Pakistan.
