Starting around June 25, 2025, many people began noticing a sharp drop in impressions and clicks from their local rankings on Google. This information comes from the Google Business Profile performance reports. It’s not clear yet if this is just a reporting glitch or if Google actually made a change to how local rankings work.
The first reports of this came from the Local Search Forum, where several local SEO experts started asking if others were seeing the same issue. It turns out—many are.
Here’s what Veronica shared in the thread:
“We are seeing a drop in impressions both on Search Desktop and Search Mobile starting from June 25th. The decline is happening across different clients, in various industries, and with different numbers of store locations.”
Below are some charts from the forum that highlight this drop.

Willy Evans also shared his experience, saying, “Looks like our drops started on June 24th or 25th as well,” along with this chart:

I checked some of the Google Business Profiles I manage, and it looks like there’s possibly missing data in the reports. While it could be a real ranking issue affecting local listings, it feels more like a reporting or data bug to me.
Sophie from GMBAPI also pointed this out, saying:
“We noticed a clear drop in both mobile and desktop search impressions across multiple Google Business Profile accounts on June 25th, but the actions and engagement numbers stayed the same.”
Here’s the chart they shared:

I don’t believe this issue is related to the Google June 2025 core update, since that didn’t begin until June 30th—and we didn’t see real movement from that until July 2nd. There were some early signs of changes around June 25th, but my gut feeling is that this is more of a reporting problem, not a ranking shift.
So far, there’s no official confirmation from Google, but if you’re seeing this issue, you’re definitely not alone.
There’s an active discussion on the Local Search Forum about this.
Update: A Google Product Expert has now commented in the thread, saying:
“This is a known glitch. Google is working on restoring the data.”
I suspect this statement confirms the issue is indeed related to a reporting glitch.
