Google Updates Threshold for Removal-Based Demotion in Search

Google has quietly updated its search ranking systems document, specifically in the section about “Removal-based demotion systems.

Before, the document said that a site needed to have a “high” volume of valid copyright or personal information removal requests to trigger a ranking demotion. Now, Google has changed the wording to say a “significant” volume instead.

This small change may seem minor, but it could mean that Google is no longer focusing strictly on the total number of cases, but also on how important or serious those cases are.
