Microsoft Advertising’s New Custom Reports Builders and Other Tools

Microsoft Advertising shared its June update, highlighting some useful new features. The biggest change is the launch of a custom report builder, along with improvements to PMax campaigns, the import tool, and new Shopify integrations.

Microsoft explained that they have redesigned the Reporting homepage to make it easier and faster for advertisers to access important reports and recommended templates. This helps users keep track of performance with less effort.

The new custom report builder lets you:

  • Pick from a wide range of metrics
  • Apply filters
  • Break down data by device, audience, and more
  • Save and schedule reports for later use

Microsoft Advertising also made some changes to Performance Max (PMax) campaigns. These updates focus on how ads are handled during auctions. Before, PMax campaigns were always given priority over Standard Shopping campaigns when both targeted the same products in the same account.

Now, this has changed. Instead of PMax automatically winning, Microsoft said normal auction rules will apply, and the campaign with the highest Ad Rank will show — just like with other campaign types. This gives advertisers a better chance to optimize whichever campaign performs best.

Microsoft also added more conversion diagnostic tools in the platform to help advertisers spot and fix problems that could affect the success of their PMax campaigns.

For Google and Meta imports, Microsoft made it easier to reuse existing ad content. Now advertisers can import the first image from carousel ads (from Google Ads or Meta Ads) directly into Microsoft Audience Ads. Since carousel ads are popular on these platforms, this helps save time when launching Audience ads on Microsoft Advertising.

In June, advertisers will also get alerts and suggestions when there are problems importing ads — making it easier to fix issues quickly.

Lastly, Shopify merchants can now advertise directly on Microsoft Advertising through the updated Microsoft Channel app. This app is now available in more countries, including France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Japan, Australia, and the UK, along with the US and Canada.
